Speed Traps in Dublin and surrounding areas:

Avondale Road - regular garda presence, for traffic travelling towards
Dun Laoghaire direction, usually on the left hand side.


Ballymun Road - It seems the Gardai are at the narrow road facing the
Esso Station, just parallel to Albert College Park catching motorists
that dont realise the speed limit is 30 mph.


Balbriggan to Swords dual-carriageway - There is a fixed position Gatso
speed camera in the following location; when travelling towards Swords
from Balbbriggan the road becomes single lane for a few miles after the
new bypass, just as it then becomes dual-carriageway you will see a
Staoil station on the left; approx. 200 metres past the Staoil is the
Gatso unit. See main page and Gatso page for photos.


Belgard Road - Approaching Tallaght on the Belgard Rd outside the fire
station theres a JEEP on several occassions during the day time. Be
careful because the road sweeps left handed as you drive from Newlands
cross and you wont see them until its too late.40Mph on the Belgard Rd.


Belgard road - one of the Gatso vans (the green 97D Transit) has been
spotted by number of people in one of the lay-bys here recently.


Blanchardstown - coming from blanchardstown (heading to Dunshaughlin)
the second last bridge is a great hide out for the Gardai, they can hide
out behind the bridge.


Brighton Road - Hiding in a gate opposite Kerrymount Avenue on Brighton
Road Carrickhill Road Portmarnock at the entrance to ardilaun and also
at the entrance to woodlands getting traffic coming up from the village.
30mph also. Both these locations get checks two to three times a week
and the times vary every time.


Chapelizod - This stretch of road runs parallel to that between the
river and the side of the Phoenix park 40 mph zone and then changes to
30mph just as you near Chapelizod village itselfaway from town, be
warned on the spot fines of 65 euro not uncommon.

Chapelizod by-pass - on the N4 heading into Dublin city as you sweep
around those high speed bends (usually under the pedestrian bridge
before the traffic lights at Con Colbert road), 50 MPH limit.


Churchtown - On a few occasions lately there has been a Garda speed
check just past the Glenside pub towards lower Churchtown road.


Dundrum - on the road that links Milltown with Windyarbour. Located
right at the top of the hill with laser gun.


The hole in the wall road Donaghmeade facing traffic coming off the M50
sliproad towards Portmarnock/Malahide direction. Good few checks here
over the last few weeks. 30 mph also.


Enniskerry road - past Whites cross coming into Stepaside village, the
speed limit drops to 30MPH. Garda standing just inside the entrance to
the Garda station checking for speeders.


Firhouse - The green 97D Ford hi-back Transit has been parked on the
Ballycullen Road in Firhouse. Its a long straight road down, apart from
a slight left turn, the van is usually parked up on the grass.


Finglas on the N2 there does be either a green 00-D reg laguna r a wine
00-D mondeo parked on the south bound side just after u come off the M50
once or twice a week


Foxrock -Westminster road travelling towards the dual-carriageway
half-way up the road from either side at the crest of a hill. Motorcycle
Garda with radar.


Griffith Avenue - has recently become a 30MPH zone, so the Whitehall
Gardai are out in force, they pick random points on the avenue.


Kilternan - Opposite Ambrose Glass motors.They sit in the turn from
Johnny Foxes and catch cars both ways. This is a stretch of road that
goes from 60 to 30 in bothways. The road goes from Enniskerry to
Stepaside.


Lucan by-pass - On the N4 main Dublin to Galway road, anywhere from the
M50 roundabout to the Newcastle road intersection, 40 MPH limit. M11
heading southbound - the first exit for Bray appears. It is at this
point where cars start leaving the motorway, that there is a small
clearway hidden from motorists by some bushes where the speedtrap has
operated. The marked car is unseen because of the bushes, but one
officer usually stands out using radar.



Upper kilmacud rd - out side benildus collage heading towards Dundrum
(Regular speedtrap)


Lower kilmacud rd - gardai on bikes hideing in the bus stops in both
directions near drumartin post office.(Regular Speedtrap)


The Malahide/Swords road - (The streach of road from Mcallisters garage
malahide to the N1 swords roundabout). Mostly on fri. sat. nights at the
Seabury traffic lights getting traffic coming from malahide direction.
Great open road but a 30 mph enforced.


M1- as you approach the airport roundabout after exiting the
M1(Northbound). They will get you as you come around the
bend(40MPH).Only spotted this once so far in mid-August. ALSO watch out
for parked Garda cars on the ramps as you approach(northbound) and
leave(Southbound) the Estuary bridge on the new M1.


M50 ,off- from the Ballymun roundabout going towards Ballymun flats on
the left just before the turn off for Santry lane (before the Statoil
garage) the 97D green Ford Transit Gatso van sits on the grass verge
midweek.


M50 - watch out on Sunday afternoons for some members of the Dublin
traffic corps, between the Castleknock turn off and Malahide road
roundabout with a laser gun.


M50 North bound - Just before you reach the speed camera at the airport
slip-lane, An unmarked escort on the grass-verge which separates north
and south bound traffic.


M50 Northern Parkway - Just before you get to the airport exit
north-bound are some big signs stating that the limit is now 50MPH,
watch out on the left hand side as you approach these signs for a fixed
installation Gatso unit; (near cart city).


M50 Northern Parkway - south-bound near above, just after the first slip
road/fly-over is another fixed installation Gatso.


M50 - About 150m or so from the Gatso on the northbound section of the
M50 at the airport end, there is a Garda car Mondeo Estate sitting in a
section of the median that is surfaced, they have range up to the
Ballymun Flyover bridge.


Road linking the M50 to the Malahide Road - on both sides regularly
motorcycle Gardai with what looks like laser are spotted.


N1 - on the old single carriage road between the Swords Dual-carriageway
and the Balbriggan by-pass is south facing fixed installation Gatso,
just past the fruit farm on the right.


N2 - Outside the Old Finglas Road entrance to Glasnevin Cemetary.
Motorbike Garda. Hidden by a long bend. Just after the area goes from
40-30mph he's sitting waiting for you.


There is also a gatso camera on the N2 just after the coolquay pub and
the emo garage when ur headin north-bound its hid in the bushes and
anyone whos knows about it thinks it dead but the fucker flashes there
is no markings on the road. I know its live cause the beamer in front
of me got flashed last nite.


Also under the bridge on the N2 in finglas a speedy does b waitin wit a
speed gun 2 catch u as u come round the bend on the finglas by-pass


N3 - On the Navan Road between the Blanchardstown and Clonee exits on
the dual carriageway, citybound. Jeep with laser.


N4 Lucan by-pass -There is a fixed GATSO installed on the Dublin bound
carriageway of the N4 just after the Lucan exit (opposite the Spa
Hotel).


N4, Lucan by-pass - A garda trap is under the flyover just before
Woodies on the Eastbound side of the carriageway (towards Dublin city).


N7 - On the Naas road coming from Dublin, about 3 miles before Kill
after a petrol station, Garda are twice/three times weekly sitting in a
gateway with radar/laser guns.


N7 Naas road - On the new 3 lane section watch out for a Gatso van,
usually the green Transit.


N7 - At least three times a week, mostly at the roadstone exit on the
Naas road the green Gatso van is there, also after the new bridge at
Rathcoole their is a weighbrige where a Garda on a bike hides most days.


N11 - There have been 4 or 5 speed traps in the past few weeks located
on the Stillorgan dual-carriageway at the traffic lights by the Montrose
slip-road (by Fosterbrook and before the Fosters avenue junction). They
are catching people coming out of town under UCD bridge and picking them
up at the lights.


N81 - Garda speed trap on the Tallaght by-pass heading towards
Templeogue on Sunday's located after the Tallaght Village junction just
around the corner before the next roundabout.


N81 - Tallaght by-pass on the way into the City Centre. Just after
Tallaght village as the by-pass sweeps left about 50 yards after that
turn is a regular spot for the traps. They try to catch you as you come
around the sweeping bend so be careful. Green Gatso van has been spotted
in this location recently.


Newtown Park Avenue - goes from 40MPH to 30MPH and a Garda Stands on the
inside of his 4 x 4 with a laser gun on a Tripod. The 4 X 4 is parked on
the Path of a Blind Left Handed Turn. Newtown park avenue is the road on
the opposite side of the N11 to Leopardstown Race Course.


Portmarnock - In the past few weeks there has been speed traps most days
on lower Strand road, Co. Dublin. Between the stables and the village.


Pembroke Street in Dublin 4. Got 2 penalty points and 80quid fine. It's
a new trap as I've been driving that road now for 2 years without
trouble. It's a 30 zone btw. Its easy to go over the limit there, I was
caught at 45!


Raheny - Every Tuesday and Thursday between 7.30 and 8.45AM there is a
speed trap on the Sybil Hill Road in Raheny located at the entrance to
the car park to St. Annes Park.


Raheny Village - Twice a week half way between Raheny village and The
Old Shieling Hotel there is a trap (laser on a tripod) out of the back
of a Isuzu Trooper or a Mondeo estate, the trap can be pointing in
either direction (town or Howth), as you come up from Howth the 40mph
zone ends just before the lights after the Shieling.


Raheny Village - Howth road and entrance into maywood.Garda with a laser
gun catching people coming from the black banks direction rowards town


St. Johns road - On the N4 approaching Heuston train station, they have
an unmarked car there between the taxis with a Laser Gun as your heading
into town from the west


Stillorgan dual-carraigeway - south-bound, just past the Montrose hotel,
1st bus shelter on right hand side, Garda on bike hides behind the bus
shelter, very hard to spot in time.


Strand Road Portmarnock. They vary from Outside the B+B across the
stables, Half way down strand road towards the village, and they have
been outside the entrance to the Portmarnock hotel in the early hours of
the morning. Savage straight road with only a 30 mph limit so they have
a field day.


Swords- At Motorola/Celestica plant. As you come from Applewood
village (30MPH) they are parked in at either the entrance to Celestica
or at the bus stop a little further down. Have seen them here at both 8
AM and 12 PM.


Tallaght - Speed trap at Glenview/Bolbrook pedestrian lights on Tallaght
by-pass city bound. Speed limit 40 mph commencing from Old Bawn junction
of Bye pass. Trap in hard shoulder with laser on tripod.


Torquay Road - Radar gun, usually during the day. operates on the last
long straight on Torquay road at the Leopardstown Road end of the road.


UCD bridge on the Stillorgan dual carriageway - There are garda cars
near UCD or on the bridge with scanners catching speeders on their way
into the city.


N1 - just north of Dublin airport is a small roundabout at "TheCoachmans
Inn" it is a favourite hiding spot for motorcycle cops with radar, its a
50MPH zone.


Whitehall - End of the M1 Motorway, the speed limit changes from 70 to
40 mph. There is a set of pedestrian lights just at Whitehall Church,
and there are usually two Gardai there with a speed camera directed at
traffic travelling south into the City.

Это не помогает - они на мотоциклах могут стоять где угодно. Помоему гораздо проще следить за знаками и соблюдать лимит. IMHO здесь лимиты расставленны более-менее разумно и это просто. А если хочется оторваться то картинг - или еще что....

Здорово... это что же - один раз поймают за превышение скорости и 4 пункта корова языком слизала? Из 12... за 3 года..
Кстати,в Balbriggan точно есть эта пакость... проверено-мины есть. Так что ежжайте с осторожностию!

Это не совсем так, насколько я понимаю, это зависит от превышения и того, признаешь ли ты сразу свою вину. Можно получить 2 пойнта, а можно 4

А можно поподробнее? Если сразу признаешь вину - тогда могут "пожадничать" и дать 2 штрафных вместо одного?
И если вы - l-driver,и вас сфоткала камера с прицелом на номер вашей машины как раз тогда,когда вы вообразили себя Шумахером на магистрали - что дальше-то будет?

Если признаешь себя виновным, то могут дать 2 вместо 4. Если же ты не соглашаешься и пытаешься доказать свою правоту, могут дать и все 4, если проиграешь. По последним данным статистики, если не ошибаюсь, только 1 из 7 фотографий, сделанных установленными камерами (а не самой гардой) полицейским удается доказать в суде, в основном, в связи с плохим качеством. Фото, сделанные, полицейскими, по-моему, 1 из 2. По поводу L так сразу не могу сказать, хотя думаю, ничего не будет. Попробую узнать

Я первый раз этот документ видел в 2001 году. Он с тех пор не обновлялся а тот зеленый Форд что стоял на Firhouse road где я тогда жил - уже сгнил давно.

Нет не знаю, есть подозрение что это не стационарная камера, а где то из vanа на ободчине снимали. В любом случае когда с дороги съезжаю вниз то на знаке снижаюсь до 55 и далее так до самого поворота со светофором со стрелкой. Не шлют пока ничего (и трижды сплюнул через левое плечо).
