Location: Dublin South Job Purpose Building a competency in the domain of Oracle Database hosting, administration and support. This role is a 9 month fixed term contract required for transitioning existing Oracle services, establishing Oracle as a service and determining how this service offering will be supported in the future; whilst continuing to deliver database services to our customers Department This role is based in the Operations Department Reporting Line This role reports to the Infrastructure Manager. Number of Direct Reports 0 Number of Indirect Reports 0 Principal Accountabilities 1. Transitioning of Existing Oracle Services · Define and document existing database architecture and infrastructure in accordance with agreed standards and customer requirements. This should include: · software and hardware design and configuration · services · Support partners, support processes · Software and hardware architects, securing agreement and sign off for proposed database architectures & infrastructure. · Overseeing the testing and implementation of new database environments, transition of environments and new services · Ensure robust processes and practices are verified, agreed and integrated with service desk - for all ITIL service delivery & service support disciplines. · Document and map all operational tasks to support model · During transition, maintain existing KPIs for service availability and performance 2. Deliver Database Services · Controlling access, performance monitoring and tuning on all environments · Devising and implementing disaster recovery practices and routines · Devising and implementing data archiving practices and routines · Developing and implementing database capacity planning · Working with internal IT Departments and third party suppliers · Installing database software and creation of new databases · Establishing and enforcing standards in line with the Group ICT standards · Working with the Compliance Manager to maintain a high level of application and user security in-line with Security policies. · Advising on hardware and licensing requirements to maintain server availability and stability · Creating and maintaining documentation on procedures · Change management of application software on UAT and production servers · Call lifecycle from incident / problem origin to completion Relationship Management · Build relationships and develop the trust of the internal and external customers. Reporting & Systems (including Service Level Agreements - ‘SLAs’) · Continue to meet all existing, agreed SLA’s and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Delivering Great Service · Maintain a high level of service focus at all times. · Keep abreast of market conditions and specific industry and organisational changes. 3. Recommend ongoing organisational model to enable to continue provision of Database (Oracle) services, which should include job descriptions and reporting lines Knowledge & Experience · Minimum 5 years Oracle experience, with comprehensive knowledge of the current product suite. · Minimum 5 years experience in database management & support. · Minimum 5 years experience in designing and developing Oracle-centred solutions to exacting standards. · General database management including file sizes, backups and restores, job control, process management, security and replication. · Strong Oracle background from Oracle 8 to Oracle 10G and should be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding in terms of Oracle RDBMS architecture, database design and performance. · Competent in the application of the Security features built into the Oracle/SQL architectures · Experienced with managing service partnerships with 3rd parties to stringent SLAs · Solid understanding of ITIL framework & implementation, foundation certified. · Capable of working to structured development and change management processes and adhering to standards. · Ability to manage software suppliers to stringent SLAs & KPIs · Experience of Oracle Forms, Cognos and Datastage would be advantageous. · Excellent client facing skills · Fluent in business English language - written and verbal. · Experience of actively participating in a team environment, whilst demonstrating the capability to work independently.
