On Saturday, September 10th

Cork will attempt to break the World Record for the largest Cйili Dance in the World!!!

It will consist of hopefully approx. 10,000 people dancing the Siege of Ennis for 5 minutes!! on the South Mall & Grand Parade.


After the attempt the music and performance will continue until approx.
5 p.m. and a fantastic family day out is guaranteed. This is a City Council sponsored event and bodies are needed urgently to make up the appropriate numbers.

The World Record currently stands at 6,971 which was achieved in Dublin, Ohio in the USA. It will be unfortunate if a town called Dublin continued to hold the record. We are appealing to anyone with two legs irrespective of age (but you must be over 8 yrs!!!) and irrespective of your state of health or Irish Dancing capacity to register ASAP!!!

9.30am Registration points will be open from 9.30am so the public are urged to get in early to prevent queuing.

12.00pm Zones open.

1pm PLEASE BE IN YOUR ALLOCATED ZONE FOR 1PM SHARP!!!

2pm World Record Breaking attempt: The Siege of Ennis

Countdown given by Michael Flatley.

3pm onwards Ceili Bands will entertain the public until 5pm.

All roads leading to the South Mall and Grand Parade Area will be closed for the day.
