Вести с полей:
Gardaí warn of flash floods Gardaí and the AA have warned motorists that after torrential rainfall, flash floods have occurred in many areas. The rain over the last 24 hours in Dublin came close to breaking the record for a single 24-hour period in August. Dublin Airport got 56 mms of rain in 24 hours. The record is held by August 1986, when there was 60mm, caused by Hurricane Charlie. In Co Kildare there is flooding around Celbridge town with many roads impassable. There's also some flooding between Naas and Blessington. In Co Laois a river has burst its banks along the Ballyroan to Portlaoise Road at Cashel Cross. One lane is open to traffic. The Portlaoise to Timahoe road is also badly flooded and the road between Stradbally Village and Athy is impassable. The N3 is closed inbound and outbound at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. The M1 is closed inbound and outbound after the Port Tunnel. The M50 is blocked at Ballymun Northbound. Diversions are in place in all of these areas. On the trains northbound and southbound Dart services are suspended between Malahide and Howth junctions and there is significant disruption to Northern Commuter and Belfast rail services. Garda diversions are currently in place and long delays are to be expected. Dublin Airport has urged passengers to give themselves plenty of time to get to the airport, and if possible to check their route before they leave. The football match between Shamrock Rovers and Sunderland which was due to be played in Tolka Park at 7.30pm has been cancelled due to the flooding. http://www.rte.ie/news/2008/0809/flood.html

Met Éireann has said that in the 24-hour period from midnight Friday until midnight on Saturday 76.2mm of rain was recorded at Dublin Airport. This is a new record for the month of August. The previous record was 73mm which was recorded in August 1986. rte.ie

Кто-нибудь знает, движение по Swords Road и Collins Avenue уже восстановилось?Автобусы ходят?
Kvietok добавил 10.08.2008 в 11:50 Сама себе и отвечу ![]() A clean-up operation is to get underway in Dublin and Kildare following flash flooding yesterday. Gardaí say flood water has subsided in most areas, but parts of north county Dublin are still badly affected. The N3 near Blanchardstown is closed in both directions and should be avoided if possible. AdvertisementThe M1 is closed at Shantalla Bridge and will remain closed for several hours an diversions are in place. People intending to travel to Croke Park for today's games are asked to avoid the M50, to leave plenty of time for their journey and to expect delays. Those travelling northbound to Dublin Airport are advised that a section of M1 is closed at Whitehall and traffic is diverted to Santry. A contra-flow is in operation along the M50 between Finglas and Blanchardstown. Met Éireann has said that in the 24-hour period from midnight Friday until midnight on Saturday 76.2mm of rain was recorded at Dublin Airport. This is a new record for the month of August. The previous record was 73mm which was recorded in August 1986. Toni River in Celbridge flooded Kildare County Council says Celbridge experienced bad flooding also. Eight houses in the Vanessa Close Estate were flooded with water reaching about 60cm. It was caused by the Toni River, a tributary of the Liffey, which is backing up. The County Council has secured a boat from the Civil Defence to try to clear the blockage that it is hoping will be completed by lunchtime. The Clane to Celbridge Road is closed because of flooding and is expected to remain closed for most of day. The Ardrass Road from Straffan to Celbridge is also closed and will remain so for the rest of the day. Celbridge also experienced serious problems with sewage flooding onto the street, caused by pumps being flooded. The pumps are now working again but Main Street is still affected by the sewage, which has also damaged some premises. 4,000 scouts in Punchestown had to spend the night indoors after being removed by the Civil Defence to the major events centre on the site. Leixlip and Maynooth also experienced flooding, but the county council is not aware of any damage to property. Meanwhile, rail services have resumed between Malahide Station and Howth Junction. Iarnród Éireann says all its lines have now reopened and its services are running as normal today. Dublin Fire Brigade says it had a very busy night with all areas of the capital affected by flooding. The Fire Brigade says flooding was particularly bad in Swords and that a number of premises in the north city centre were flooded, with Drumcondra badly affected. Houses in the Knocklyon and Firhouse areas of south Dublin were flooded. The main drain section of Dublin City Council was called out to help ease the flooding, which was made worse by high tide. The Civil Defence was also called in to help pump water. On the M50 a bus full of people heading to Dublin Airport got stuck in the floods and had to be pulled using a tractor.
