Six of the seven people arrested in connection with an alleged extortion racket are likely to be charged in relation to a series of criminal incidents.

The six Lithuanian men were released this evening after being arrested under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and have been re-arrested.

They are expected to appear before a sitting of Kilmainham District Court in the morning.

A seventh person - a woman - remains in Garda custody.

The six, all in their 30s, were arrested in Saggart in Co Dublin on Saturday.

A total of five cars and one motorcycle were recovered during the operations, along with three handguns and a quantity of stolen property.
