Коротко
Все граждане имеют право на лечение в паблик госпиталях независимо есть медицинская страховка или нет.
Когда вас ложат в паблик госпиталь и приносят подписать бумагу чтобы ы выбрали как вас будут лечить - как паблик или как приватный пациент и подписав бумагу вы отказываетесь от паблик лечения. Лечение одинаково.
Только как паблик койка (ночь) стоит 80 евро, а как приват стоит 800 евро заа ночь.
И эти суммы приводят к удорожанию страховок.
Отказавшись быть паблик пациентом вы как бы платите за ваше лечение дважды, один раз через ваши налоги и второй раз за частную медицинскую страховку.

Все это не зависит от того, какое еще лечение вам будет оплачиваться медицинской страховкой.

Public Bed Charges

You may have heard some discussion in the media recently around the legislation on Public Hospital

Bed Charges and its impact on private health insurance customers. As our customer, we feel it's important that you have all the facts and can make an informed decision if you are admitted to a public hospital.
No doubt you are aware that all citizens of Ireland are entitled to be treated as a public patient in a
public hospital, regardless of whether or not they hold private health insurance. However, this legislation means that if you sign the waiver form presented to you in public hospitals you waive this entitlement and you can be charged upwards of €800 per night for your admission — as opposed to €80 per night for public patients — regardless of whether you receive any additional benefits from your private health insurance.
That's over 10 times the cost of a public bed for a public patient for possibly the same treatment.
This has a direct impact on costs as private health insurance companies have to pay out more money to public hospitals. Health Insurance premiums are a factor of claim costs and since the introduction of the additional bed charges, total claims costs for the private insurance sector have increased by €200 million in a full year.
If you are admitted into a public hospital you'll be asked to sign a form, to confirm if you want to be treated as a private Q! public patient. It's your choice but you should be aware that you may be paying twice for the same treatment, once through your tax and once through your health insurance.
Your decision to sign the form should be based on the type of treatment you will receive and whether or not you avail of any additional benefits through your private health insurance, for example a single room.

если предложат лучше условия, чем для public, тогда стоит отказываться от public.

А как на практике отличишь, что тебя лечат как частного пациента или лучше?
Те же самы врачи, то же отделение, и та же коцка - в палате на 4 где остальные паблик пациенты.

И те же медикаменты.

Когдато прописали,если приват, то должно быть отдельное отделение в больнице и так далее.
Но теперь этого нет, и даже можно попасть в палату где и мужчины и женщины в одной палате, мест не хватает. Или ваш выбор - ждать пок для вас освободится место?

если приватных плюшек нету, то оставаться в паблик системе
