Russian stock exchange hit by PC virus

The leading Russian stock exchange was temporarily suspended on
Thursday because of a computer virus.

The news comes as computer users around the world brace themselves
for the 'Karma Sutra' virus, which is expected to cause havoc on
Friday 3 Febuary by wiping hard drives on PCs it has affected.

The virus, which led to the closure of the Russian Trading System
(RTS) for an hour, has not been named.

It is said to have hit late on 2 February, infecting an
internet-connected computer and generating a large amount of
outgoing email traffic. Legitimate incoming and outcoming email
was interrupted by the virus's activities.

Trading quickly resumed at the stock exchange and experts claim
that no data at the exchange was lost or stolen.
