Changes needed to develop immigrant workforce
Ireland needs to develop its immigration system to develop a healthy and productive multicultural workforce, says a group called the Diversity at Work Network; the groups is comprised of the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland, the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism, and the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown. The group issued its statement on the basis of a survey it conducted, which showed that a quarter of firms reported a problem in the processing of work permits. The group also called for the extension of work permits to immigrant spouses.
