Database Developer

Location
Cork, Ireland

Job Purpose
To perform Oracle database analysis, design and implementation for company’s products as part of the R&D department.

Job Responsibilities
- Business requirements analysis
- Logical entity relationship modelling
- Database Analysis and trouble shooting
- Data Migration procedures design and implementation
- Physical database design for scalability and performance
- Database application design
- Development and unit testing of database applications
- Database Upgrade and Rollback script design and implementation
- Performance monitoring and tuning of database-centric applications
- Design and development of application installation procedures from database perspective
o Developing installation procedures
o Performing installations
o Trouble-shooting installed systems
- Database installation, upgrades and administration
o Database setup
o Oracle upgrades/patches
o User/security setup
- Database Documentation

Job Skills - Required
- Minimum 4 years experience of building large scale data storage solutions using Oracle RDBMS, dealing with large data volumes and long storage requirements
- Requirements analysis skills
- Entity relationship modelling and physical database design skills
- Expert knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience of performance monitoring and tuning of large volume applications based on Oracle RDBMS
- Experience with database administrative procedures and tools
- Experience of database schema upgrades
- Experience of data migration – in place as well as ETL.
- Good knowledge of UNIX
- Experience of UNIX scripting, e.g. shell, Perl, etc.

Job Skills - Desired
- Experience with Java, JDBC, Object Relational Mapping technologies and tools
- Experience of XML, XSL, etc.
- Experience of common report solutions, such as Business Objects, Actuate, etc.
