QUARANTINE INFORMATION

LOCATION

Lissenhall Quarantine Kennels and Cattery is located in the countryside just north of the town of Swords on the main Dublin to Belfast road, about three miles from Dublin Airport.

THE KENNELS AND CATTERY

The kennels are designed to the specifications of the Department of Agriculture. The standard dog kennels sleeping area is 3.5 feet x 3.5 feet with an outside run of 12 feet x 4 feet. The runs have been designed to get as much sun and light as possible and each dog can take an interest in it’s surroundings, can see it’s neighbouring dog , but cannot come into contact with it. Our cattery is also designed to the Department of Agricultures’ specifications. The cat kennels are 4 feet x 3 feet, with elevated shelving.

FEEDING

The diet for both dogs and cats is carefully balanced according to individual requirements for different breeds etc. Where a special diet is required, it will only be allowed in consultation with the manager of the kennels. There will be an extra charge for this facility.

HEATING

Individual infra red heaters can be fitted at an additional charge, see enclosed price list. The coldest months in Ireland are October to April.

VACCINATION

All dogs and cats in quarantine will receive, during their stay, inoculations with rabies vaccine. In addition, each dog will be vaccinated against distemper, viral hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvo disease. Similarly, all cats will be vaccinated against feline enteritis and cat ‘flu. See enclosed price list.
These vaccinations are mandatory, irrespective of previous vaccination history.

VISITING

The Department of Agriculture does not recommend visiting for the first fortnight of quarantine, after this, visiting by appointment only, is permitted, at intervals of at least one week, during the following hours: Monday - Friday 2.00 - 4.30pm

As visitors must be escorted, briefness (say 15 minutes) would be appreciated. The kennels are closed to visitors all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. Under no circumstances will visits be permitted without a prior appointment.
