4,000 Dublin homes without electricity

Up to 4000 households are without electricity in the Clondalkin area of Dublin after the ESB had to again switch off power to over 2,000 homes. Electricity had been restored to those 2,000 homes but was switched off after it became apparent that the damage to wiring at the sub-station in Clondalkin is more extensive than had been thought. A spokesman said that the ESB still hopes to have power restoed to all customers by midnight. Originally 10,000 homes had their electricity cut off early this morning after a fire was discovered in the sub station at about 6.30am.
