Bridal misery as shop leaves E1m debt

Over 180 brides have been left angry today after it was confirmed
at a creditors meeting that Wedding Dress Bridal Stores in Cork
and Kenmare have gone into liquidation

More than 300 people attended the heated and angry meeting to be
told that the owner of the shop, owned by Judith Linehan, has
debts of over E1m

In a statement read out by her solicitor, Eugene Carey said she
both emotionally and financially shared their loss and deeply
regretted the closure

Those at the meeting were told that she owes money to 341
creditors and has 'no assets to speak of'

Those owed money include the Revenue Commissioners, banks and
bridal dress suppliers. Over 180 brides who paid as much as E5,000
each for their dresses were also told they had no way whatsoever
of getting their money back

The stores in Cork and Kenmare were closed last month
